Two Gay Men Arrested in Casablanca While Having Sex in Taxi

Rabat – Two gay men were reported to have been arrested on Saturday by the police in Casablanca after having been caught having sexual intercourse in a taxi, according to Moroccan daily, Assabah.

The two men were discovered in a taxi parked near the Arrahma Gardens complex in Hay Rahma, according to local authorities in Hay Rahma, Casablanca. When the authorities approached the vehicle, they found the two, completely nude,engaged in sexual intercourse. The authorities took them to the prosecutor’s office, and charged them with public indecency.

Assabah also noted that the authorities’ intervention was quick and efficient to protect the suspects from assault by pedestrians who had gathered at the scene. The police secured the scene, and prevented onlookers from approaching the vehicle while they allowed the men to put on their clothes.

According to the same source, one of the men was a 35-year-old taxi driver, and the other was a 29-year-old man. They had met on the Corniche Ain Diab.

Article 489 of the Moroccan Penal Code punishes people convicted of engaging in sexual activities with others of the same gender with prison terms ranging from six months to three years. Sexual relations out of wedlock are also unlawful pursuant to the Moroccan Penal Code.
